Tonsillectomy

Selepas beberapa cycles of chemo (towards the end of my complete regime of chemotherapy), PET-CT scan showed ada SUV uptake on both my tonsils. Hal ini sangat-sangat menyedihkan aku. Takut dengan macam-macam kemungkinan. Adakah limfoma aku tu dah bergerak ke tonsil atau apa-apa lagi.. Haishhh.. Menangis gak la aku time tu. so, Pakar Hematologi Prof Fadhilah menasihatkan aku supaya menjalani tonsilectomy. Dalam hati aku? Of course risau sebab procedure tu kena buat under general anaesthesia. Kecut perut gak la.

Selalunya procedure tonsillectomy ni dijalankan atas children if:

• A bacterial infection causing tonsillitis doesn't improve with antibiotic treatment
• An infection that results in a collection of pus behind a tonsil (tonsillar abscess) doesn't improve with drug treatment or a drainage procedure 

So, dalam kes aku ni. tonsil aku membengkak tanpa aku sedar. Aku tak ada tanda-tanda demam pun. Tapi dalam PET-CT scan ada SUV uptake. So solutionnya adalah to remove the tonsils to exclude lymphoma. hai, risau..risau..

Procedure tu sekejap saja. I was the first on the OT list that Friday morning. Dah masuk dalam OT room tu, sejuk mak aiii.. Oklah, Pakar Anestetik pun introduce diri dia kalo tak silap Dr Teh, and Surgeon yang buat tu Pakar ENT Prof Razif. Thank you so much for your hardworks. Procedure tu 45 minit ja, simple.

Selepas procedure, aku rehat. Minum air pun pakai straw. Habis ja bius terasa perit ja kat tekak. Prof Razif datang kat aku, advice supaya aku jangan berhenti makan. Kalau nak cepat baik kena makan. SENTIASA MAKAN. Ada MO tu pulak advice aku jangan makan bubur, makan nasi terus. Aku terpinga. Boleh ka? kan sakit..? Tapi nasihat depa aku ikut jugak. Memang perit gila. Azabnya Allah saja yang tau. Telan air liur pun sakit oiii..

Alhamdulillah, i was fully recovered after 2 weeks, with no major complication. The healing process went well. Cuma result biopsy tonsil tu pulak camna.

Next appoinment aku dengan Pakar Hematologi, Prof Fadhilah revealed the result. Alhamdulillah, it was just an infection of the tonsils. Lega.. So, boleh terus proceed dengan stem cell transplant. Alhamdulillah.

p/s: Abah kata "tu lubang mulut dah besaq skit tu kena control makan la sama. Nanti tak perasan dah termasuk banyak.hahahah.."abah berseloroh. Masa aku dok sakit mulut tu, sempat lagi dok buat lawak.
